today I want to talk a little bit about writing the first draft. So, let’s begin!
- Write the first chapter. This can be very hard because you want the first sentence, the first paragraph to capture the readers attention and sometimes if the first page is just boring text about the characters, they will put it down, but if you, for example, write a lot of exciting things at school, it will be a little bit more interesting. And as well, a great first sentence is actually when someone says something.
- Write the rest. This is usually easy, but if you get stuck, then just skip the scene or chapter and move on and when you are done with the book, you can go back to it and write it.
- Let it sit. This is very important. You should not begin with the second draft, because you will feel overwhelmed, so take at least a one week break before you get back to it. It is important to get back to it with a fresh mind. PS: If you are in NaNoWriMo and finish early like I did, and you didn’t meet your word count goal, then go over the manuscript and add stuff or delete. This is your second draft!
So that is it for today! Please let me know in the comment section if you have any questions!
